1.  THE PURPOSE OF THIS MESSAGE IS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ON THE ASSIGNMENT SATISFACTION KEY (ASK),  A WEB-BASED
APPLICATION WHICH, WITH THE USE OF ARMY KNOWLEDGE ONLINE (AKO) USER ID AND PASSWORD, ALLOWS ENLISTED SOLDIERS
TO VIEW AND UPDATE ASSIGNMENT PREFERENCES, VOLUNTEER INFORMATION, AND OTHER PERSONNEL INFORMATION FROM
WHEREVER INTERNET ACCESS IS AVAILABLE.  THE INFORMATION PROVIDED VIA ASK IS USED BY HRC ASSIGNMENT MANAGERS AND
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT NONCOMMISSIONED OFFICERS (PDNCO) TO MATCH SOLDIERS’ PREFERENCES AND VOLUNTEER
SELECTIONS AGAINST ARMY READINESS REQUIREMENTS WORLDWIDE.  SOLDIERS CAN ACCESS ASK THROUGH THE HRC WEBSITE
AT HTTPS://WWW.HRC.ARMY.MIL BY SELECTING “SELF SERVICE” AND THEN CLICKING ON THE ASK ICON.

2.  ASK FUNCTIONS:

NUMBER, HOME TELEPHONE NUMBER, AND AKO EMAIL ADDRESS.  UPDATE OF MAILING ADDRESS IS REQUIRED BEFORE OTHER
SCREENS CAN BE ACCESSED.

B.  PREFERENCES:  UPDATE CONUS AND OCONUS ASSIGNMENT PREFERENCE LOCATIONS AND/OR SELECT A SPECIAL DUTY
INTEREST (DRILL SERGEANT, RECRUITING, OR AIRBORNE).  ASSIGNMENT PREFERENCE INFORMATION SIGNIFIES “IF I MUST BE
REASSIGNED, THESE ARE THE LOCATIONS I PREFER.”

C.  SOLDIERS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE HOMEBASE/ADVANCED ASSIGNMENT PROGRAM (HAAP) MAY INDICATE THEIR

ONLY THE REQUISITIONS FOR WHICH THE SOLDIER QUALIFIES.  SELECTION OF A REQUISITION IS A REQUEST FOR REASSIGNMENT
UNTIL THE SOLDIER’S HRC CAREER MANAGEMENT TEAM REVIEWS THE REQUEST AND FORMAL ASSIGNMENT NOTIFICATION
OCCURS.  IF REQUEST CANNOT BE SUPPORTED, AN EMAIL WILL BE SENT TO THE SOLDIER’S AKO ADDRESS PROVIDING
INFORMATION ON HIS/HER NON-SELECTION.  FINAL SELECTION, IN PRIORITY ORDER, WILL BE BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE ARMY,
THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS OF THE SOLDIER, AND THE SOLDIER’S PREFERENCE.  REPORT DATE OF
SOLDIER’S SELECTED REQUISITION MAY BE ADJUSTED TO MEET NONCOMMISSIONED OFFICER EDUCATION SYSTEM (NCOES)
REQUIREMENTS.  PROVIDED BELOW ARE SELECT, BUT NOT ALL-INCLUSIVE, ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
